Fasteners are mechanical components used to join two or more objects. While other methods of joining exist, such as welding, brazing, adhesives, crimping, and more, many of these are examples of permanent joints. Fasteners form non-permanent joints and can be easily removed. Threaded fasteners are particularly effective at joining two objects thanks to their headed design. Threaded fasteners feature either internal or external screw threads, are easy to install, and just as easy to remove. The three most common types of threaded fasteners are screws, nuts, and bolts. In this blog, we will explain each of them, their unique characteristics, and their uses. Read more >>

Every winter holds the risk of your carburetor overheating. To be exact, it's not the freezing of the carburetor that happens, rather it's the ice developing on the dividers of the diffuser. Too much ice prevents the carburetor from properly functioning and can even prevent you from opening it up for inspection and maintenance. There is basically so much ice that it drastically changes the size of the evaporator and the entryway can't be shut. The solution to this is to expand the gas. Fuel is gasified in the carburetor diffuser and hence the cooling happens. In the event that there is an excess of ice on the diffuser divider, the carburetor's properties change so much that it can't convey enough blend to the motor and it stops. For a detailed look on this, read the article below. Read more >>

While many are aware of much of the aircraft equipment and systems that provide for propulsion, flight, and safety, the APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) remains a fairly underappreciated component. The APU is a device that provides energy for vehicle functions that are not related to propulsion, and they are very common across large aircraft. In this blog, we will discuss the APU in more detail, as well as its importance to various aircraft operations. Read more >>

One of the most critical components in an aircraft, the propeller, is an aviation part that is not only responsible for giving its vessel a thrust capability, but it is also one of the pieces that weathers the most wear and tear. Because of the speed that they move at and the weight that is attached to them, the propellers are often at risk of sustaining serious damage after each flight. If not properly maintained and cared for, that risk is doubled. Because it is so vital to the aircraft and because they must endure frequent use, it’s important to implement enough care and maintenance for your vessel. Below you can find some tips and tricks to help you adhere to flight safety by providing great care to your aircraft propeller. Read more >>
